Preferred Business entry requirements
Preferably at least a Grade 5 in both GCSE English and GCSE Mathematics. Competitive nature and willingness to try new things. Interest in current trends and commercial environment.

Our AQA A Level Business course develops a deep understanding of how businesses operate and make strategic decisions in dynamic and competitive environments. Students explore key functional areas including marketing, finance, operations, and human resources, while examining how these interconnect to drive success and growth. Through contemporary, real‑world case studies, students will build the analytical, evaluative and decision‑making skills needed to assess business performance, respond to change, and think critically about the challenges facing organisations today.

Topics of study include:

  • Entrepreneurship, decision‑making and strategy
  • Marketing, finance and performance management
  • People management, leadership and operations
  • External environment, sustainability and global business

Business Studies A level students can also participate in the Tycoon Enterprise competition ran by the Peter Jones Foundation, creating and running their own business while building practical entrepreneurial skills highly sought after by employers.

Assessment

A Level Business is assessed through three written exams (2 hours each) at the end of the course. Papers assess a broad range of knowledge, understanding, and skills acquired across the entire syllabus:

  • Paper 1: Involves four sections with a mixture of- multiple choice, short answer questions and two 25 mark essay questions.
  • Paper 2: This exam involves three data response compulsory questions, each and made up of three or four part questions.
  • Paper 3: A case study will be shared, followed by questions.
