Boarding at Kimbolton offers the security of living in a friendly rural Cambridgeshire village, that is within easy reach of London.

Our two boarding houses, Kimbolton House for boys and White House for girls, sit on the historic village High Street, adjacent to the school. Boarders enjoy a welcoming, familial atmosphere and plenty of opportunities to join activities and weekend trips.

“At the end of the school day, people are in and out of the boarding house. Some are grabbing a snack before heading to extra-curricular activities or clubs. Even if you don’t have anything on, there will likely be some discussion in the common room – there is always someone to chat to!”

Our boarding community

Kimbolton boarders join us from around the UK and from overseas and we typically have around 30 different nationalities represented across our boarding community.

Boarding and day pupils are fully integrated, through our House system and shared after-school and weekend activities. Many day pupils also board on a regular or occasional basis, subject to availability.

Boarding latest news

M found being able to study alongside her peers in the boarding house a huge benefit, particularly when revising for her GCSEs, when she could call on the older girls and the house team for help, support and guidance on exams. As she progressed into sixth form, M was encouraged to offer the same assistance in return to younger boarders, one of the responsibilities that she embraced as a senior member of the boarding house. As she prepared for her A Levels, M was keen to return to full-time boarding to focus on her studies, an arrangement that the house team were immediately happy to accommodate.

We have had three children at both Kim and the White Houses in the last eight years. Our children have had exceptional pastoral care in a nurturing, caring environment. The weekend activities are excellent and they have developed strong friendships across all school years that will endure – in addition to the fabulous relationships we have with the team. Communication is superb from the experienced and intuitive house teams and we couldn’t have asked for more in terms of support as our children have grown into happy, grounded, inquisitive teenagers. In short, we think you are incredible.
