Bus service

We operate an extensive network of school buses, helping pupils travel to Kimbolton from across Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and the surrounding area.

Our buses are used exclusively by Kimbolton School pupils and are a popular choice for families. More than a third of our pupils use the service each week, including children from Reception upwards. Buses are not available to Pre-School children.

In the mornings, Prep School children are transferred from the Senior School to the Prep School where required. In the afternoons, Prep pupils travel to the Senior School on a dedicated bus, accompanied by a member of staff who helps them transfer safely to their onward buses.

We also operate late buses for Senior School pupils taking part in after-school activities and sports. These depart at 6pm and serve hub points on routes towards Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.

Our home-to-school transport routes are reviewed regularly to reflect demand.

School bus tracker

All home-to-school transport bookings are managed through School Bus Tracker, which provides families with a simple and flexible way to arrange regular or occasional bus travel.

Parents can use School Bus Tracker to:

• book regular home-to-school transport;
• make ad hoc bookings, subject to availability;
• pay for journeys by credit card, debit card or Direct Debit;
• track their child’s bus in real time;
• receive notifications if a route is significantly delayed; and
• access information about their child’s journey.

Pupils travelling regularly are issued with a bus pass containing a unique QR code, which is scanned when they travel. Older pupils can also access a digital bus pass through the app.

School Bus Tracker can be accessed through the Kimbolton Parent SBT app for iOS and Android or through the web app.

Bus routes for 2026/27

Our bus network has been updated for the 2026/27 academic year in response to demand.

This includes a new service to Wellingborough, extending our network further into Northamptonshire, as well as services reaching Cambridge and communities across Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire.

Two late buses operate for Senior School pupils participating in after-school activities:

• Late Bus – Cambs, serving stops towards Cambridgeshire and terminating at Eltisley; and
• Late Bus – Northants, serving stops towards Northamptonshire.
