Head’s welcome
I hope that you all managed to take some time off with your children over half-term and that you enjoyed the reinvigoration of a slightly longer break as much as pupils and staff did. It meant that we could run a wide range of trips, too, all of which were a great success: 3rd Form to the WW1 battlefields of Belgium, Geographers to Iceland, GCSE French to Paris, Silver DofE to Rutland (with a record 58 4th Formers qualifying), two CCF Field Weekends and the RAF camp at Inskip. And still time for a breather before or afterwards!
We are now gearing up for a busy weekend of fireworks, matches, and the town Remembrance Parade on Sunday, where our cadets will be the centrepiece of a moving event in honour of the war dead of Kimbolton and its community, including many pupils and teachers from the School. I am grateful to our reviewing officer, Lt Col Robert Agnew, for again supporting the event so staunchly, and to all our CCF cadets and staff for making the school so proud.
I am excited to report that, from January, we will have a new catering company to feed us all its delicious food! Thomas Franks will replace our current partner, Chartwells, following a thorough review and tendering process. They met our brief perfectly around quality (and quantity!), ingredients, people, and sustainability and we are looking forward to working with them.
Finally, next week is National Anti-Bullying Week, and we will be marking this year’s theme, ‘Power For Good’, in various ways. Last week, we asked pupils to complete a questionnaire about their sense of belonging and inclusion at school, and next week our annual anti-bullying survey results will be a useful addition to the insights gained from it.
Warm wishes,

“Half Term gave our pupils the chance to explore the world—from Iceland to Paris, from WW1 battlefields to DofE adventures—and every trip was a great success.“

Whole school updates
As we ease back into the second half of the Autumn Term, we have just a handful of updates to share below.
Remembrance Sunday
This Sunday, the CCF will be supporting Kimbolton’s branch of the Royal British Legion with their Act of Remembrance. We welcome all members of the wider school to join the local community in supporting the CCF and the RBL in our observance.
The parade will take place at 1030. I recommend that to secure a good spot along Kimbolton High Street you arrive in good time and park along the Duchy Walk. We respectfully ask that there is no parking around the castle.

Whole school comes together for Mental Health Awareness Day Zumba session
Pupils and staff from across the entire school came together before half term for a high-energy Zumba session in celebration of Mental Health Awareness Day. Led by our fantastic instructor, Mrs Lawless, it was wonderful to see pupils from Pre-Prep to Sixth Form, along with staff from every corner of the school, joining in with enthusiasm and enjoying a shared moment of joy.
From Monday 15 September, the Health Centre will be moving to an appointment system for non-emergency visits. Pupils will be able to book slots easily via the intranet or QR codes around school. Break and lunchtime visits, emergencies, and care outlined in individual plans will continue as usual without appointments. The new system aims to reduce waiting times and allow the nursing team to expand their health promotion work across the school community.
Flu vaccinations 1st – 5th Form – action needed
Vaccination UK will be in school on Tuesday, 25 November.
Note: Select the correct year group (1st Form = Year 7 … 5th Form = Year 11).
Hot off the press!
As we settle back into school life, it’s already been a busy and brilliant start to the half term – some would argue one of the most magical. Since our last newsletter, pupils travelled far and wide — from Paris and Iceland to Mount Cook — while others trained with the ICTA GBR squad or took part in the Boarders’ own MasterChef Challenge. Enjoy this round-up of our latest news.
