Welcome to Sixth Form
From our Director of Sixth Form
Welcome to our Sixth Form, a place to thrive academically, make lasting friendships and give back to the community.
We provide a personalised education that celebrates your individual successes and helps you grow into a well-rounded adult.
Our dedicated Sixth Form team is here to support you, every step of the way. From navigating UCAS and career choices to organising fun social events like our Summer Leavers’ Ball, we’re here to guide and support your growing independence.
We want to help you build a portfolio of qualifications, experiences and achievements that will prepare you for life beyond school, wherever your future journey takes you.
Come visit us and experience Kimbolton life for yourself,
Alice O’Donnell, Director of Sixth Form
“Kimbolton Sixth Form is not a conveyor belt or pressure-cooker where academic results come at the expense of happiness. Instead, we want your next two years to be full of excitement, challenge and new experiences that prepare you for adult life in today’s world. Of course, hard work is an essential part of that. We want you to leave having achieved what you want, with great friends and memories for life.”

Our setting
Set in 120 acres of Cambridgeshire parkland, our Sixth Form is based in Kimbolton Castle the final home of Queen Katharine of Aragon, intelligent scholar, skilled diplomat and first wife of King Henry VIII.
Classrooms
Depending on your A Level subjects, lessons take place inside the Castle, or in the Donaldson and Queen Katharine Building (QKB), a state-of-the-art facility which includes the William Brown Lecture Theatre and 12 science laboratories for STEM subjects.
Theatre, sports centre and swimming pool
Major concerts and drama productions are held in our 400-seater theatre, Lewis Hall. You’ll also have access to a modern multi-purpose sports centre with a gym, fitness room and two squash courts, and our 25-metre indoor swimming pool.
Independent study
The Castle features two computer-equipped work rooms for private study. Alternatively, you can use our excellent Vanbrugh Library, which offers access to +11,000 books and ebooks, 50 periodicals, resource folders, and DVDs.
All 14,000 items are indexed in Access-It, the library catalogue, accessible remotely via the school intranet. Subscription-based websites like History Today, New Scientist, Oxford Art Online, and Philip Allen/Hodder Magazine archives, along with other resources, support independent learning. Our librarians are available for research assistance, and the library opens for one week during Easter holidays for revision, with dates published in the school calendar.
Sixth Form Common Room and Club
A newly-refurbished common room provides a social area for Sixth Form students, including a kitchen and tea and coffee making facilities. Our Sixth Form Club provides an atmospheric space for popular evening social events.
Kimbolton School Shop
The School Shop, located in the Gatehouse, sells hot and cold drinks and snacks, stationery, minor uniform items, padlocks for lockers, nearly new uniform and School memorabilia.
This shop is open to students at morning break, lunchtime and after-school. Parents also use the café area after-school to meet with friends or to wait for students involved in extra-curricular activities.

“Kimbolton Sixth Form has given me some incredible opportunities to further my academic passions, but also to pursue many co-curricular interests. I’ve been able to start my own Book Club, take part in Model United Nations debating, and expand my musical horizons with choir, chamber choir and the whole school musical production.”
