Gibbards House
Welcome to Gibbards House
Housemistress: Lucy King

House history
Gibbards House takes its name from Cyril Arthur Hugh Gibbard, who served as Senior Master of Kimbolton School from 1911 to 1953.
During his remarkable 42 years at the school, Gibbard played a key role in guiding Kimbolton through a period of significant change and development.
Under his leadership, the school grew steadily, with pupil numbers rising from 30 to 380. Through his vision and commitment, Gibbard helped shape the character and spirit of the school community.
Today, his legacy lives on in Gibbards House.
Did you know? Our house motto ‘Cave Draconum Viridem’ means Beware of the Green Dragon!
House news
House system
The house system at Kimbolton was introduced in 1940 by then Headmaster, William Ingram, for pastoral care and competition purposes.
The Senior House names reflect both the school’s founders (Balye and Dawson) and key figures in its leadership (Ingram, Gibbard, Owen).
In Prep, different Houses reflect the history of Kimbolton Castle ownership (Fitzpiers, Montagu, Stafford, Wingfield). This connects pupils to both the heritage of the Castle and the history of the school.
Every House enables pupils to:
- Feel part of a wider community
- Be known as an individual
- Benefit from supportive tutors
- Access a breadth of opportunities
- Gain leadership experience
