Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE)

At Kimbolton, our PSHE Department is dedicated to nurturing confident, compassionate, and well-informed young people.

We believe that education is not only about academic achievement but also about preparing pupils for life beyond the classroom. PSHE is central to this mission.

Led by the Head of PSHE and a team of dedicated teachers, the school delivers a dynamic and inclusive programme that supports pupils’ personal development, wellbeing, and social awareness.

Curriculum overview

Our PSHE curriculum is carefully structured to be age-appropriate, relevant, and responsive to the needs of our pupils. It is built around three core themes:

  • Health and wellbeing
Topics include mental health, physical health, nutrition, sleep, managing stress, and substance awareness.
  • Relationships
Pupils explore healthy relationships, consent, respect, diversity, and online safety.
  • Living in the wider world
This includes financial literacy, careers education, digital responsibility, and understanding British values and global citizenship.

We also incorporate current affairs, pupil voice, and external expertise to ensure our content remains engaging and meaningful.

Curriculum delivery and rotation

PSHE is delivered through a rotational model across year groups, ensuring that each pupil receives focused and relevant content at key stages of their development.

Lessons are taught in dedicated timetabled sessions, supported by:

  • Specialist workshops and visiting speakers
  • House-based activities and assemblies
  • Cross-curricular links with subjects such as Science, RS, and ICT
  • Collaboration with pastoral and safeguarding teams

Each year group follows a termly rotation, allowing for deep dives into specific themes while maintaining flexibility to respond to emerging issues or pupil needs.

Why PSHE matters

PSHE at Kimbolton is more than a subject, it’s a foundation for life. It helps pupils:

  • Build resilience and emotional intelligence
  • Develop respectful and inclusive attitudes
  • Make informed choices about their health and future
  • Understand their rights and responsibilities in society

We are proud of the role PSHE plays in shaping thoughtful, responsible, and empowered individual.
