GCSE Computer Science at Kimbolton
Computer Science is at the heart of our modern world, shaping the technologies we rely on daily and driving innovation across industries. About the course
Our OCR GCSE Computer Science course (J277) is designed to empower students with the tools and knowledge to thrive in a digital world. Delivered entirely online, the course provides resources, video lessons, guides, and revision materials, allowing you to learn at your own pace.
Over two years, you will tackle engaging programming projects and challenges using iPads, Raspberry Pi computers, and the iMac suite. Key topics include:
Computer ethics – debating the role of computers in shaping our future
Algorithms – the foundations of programming
Binary – understanding how computers process information
Programming languages – from Fortran to Python
Hacking and security – exploring the ethical challenges in technology
Assessment

Beyond the classroom
- Robotics Club: Design, build, and code advanced rovers to extend your digital skills.
- Digital Learning “Open Room”: Available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at lunchtimes, providing opportunities to explore and develop your digital expertise.
