Health Centre
Our on-site Health Centre, with its team of dedicated nurses and qualified counsellors, offers all pupils a kind and professional service. They deliver a high standard of nursing care, aiming to treat every pupil holistically; looking at their social, psychological and physical needs.
The school has a counselling service, offering free and confidential support, which is available five days a week. Pupils can seek help and advice on a wide range of issues.
For any pupil with a medical concern, the school works closely with the parents, relevant school staff, and the pupil to understand their needs and any implications this may have on their school life.
Parents are required to complete an online medical form before the first day of attendance. This must be updated annually, prior to any school trip or if any change in medical condition occurs.
The nurses are able to administer prescribed and over the counter medications dependent on parental consents.
The nursing team are available Monday to Saturday 08:00 -17:00 (Fridays 08:00 – 16:30).
If you child is unwell or injured
Please do not send your child to school if they are unwell or have vomited or had diarrhoea in the last 48 hours. Please notify the School Office or Reception.
If your child is well enough to attend school but cannot join in with PE or Games, they need to present a letter of explanation from a parent, or an off PE/Games slip written by the school nurse. An email to the PE tutor or Head of Girls’ or Boys’ Games copied to their tutor is also acceptable.
Please provide a doctor’s note if your child is likely to miss more than two weeks of PE or Games. The sports staff will determine the most appropriate alternate activity, which may include watching, assisting or working/reading in the library. They should bring in PE/Games kit as normal, so that they are able to assist as required.
If your child is ill or injured during the school day, they will be assessed by the nursing team, and if necessary, the nurse will contact you and ask you to collect them.
Medical appointments
If your child has a routine appointment that requires them to either miss school or leave during the day, please email the School Secretary and copy in your child’s tutor as early as possible. For emergency appointments please telephone the School Secretary directly.
The nursing team are available Monday to Saturday 08:00 -17:00 (Fridays 08:00 – 16:30).
