Before and after school
Co-curricular options
Co-curricular activities are an important part of the life of Kimbolton Prep. Most teachers offer at least one activity or club after school or at lunchtimes, which together provide the children with a rich diversity of co-curricular interests and pursuits.
Activities are offered to children from Reception onwards. The range and variety vary from term to term. Currently the school offers over 50 clubs a week.
Typical co-curricular activities for the Lower Prep include: choir, coding club, construction, ball skills and art club.
For the Upper Prep: running, games (which include football, cricket, hockey, netball and tennis), swimming, badminton, languages, chess, choir, drama, art, coding, lego and board games are a few examples.
Some clubs are limited to particular year groups or have upper limits on attendance.
Parents are asked to indicate their child’s choice towards the end of the previous term via Engage.
We ask that once pupils have signed up to a particular activity, they continue to attend it for the rest of that term. Club allocations will be notified, before the end of term, again via Engage.
Reception, Years 1 and 2
Children may attend one activity per week, with the exception of Y1 Stringlets and Y2 Ministrings, for which there is a termly charge, and which may be selected in addition to any other activity. Each session runs from 15.30 until 16.00.
Alternatively, pupils may attend Film Club until 16.00; there is no restriction to the number of times that a child may attend this Club. Supervised Homework Club for Year 2 children attending Kim Club is available two days a week from 15.30 until 16.00.
Years 3 to 6
In Years 3 to 6, pupils may attend as many co-curricular activities as they wish, although we suggest that pupils should not over-commit themselves, especially in Year 3, as they settle into life in the Upper Prep.
Alternatively, pupils may attend the daily staff-supervised Homework Club. Children not collected from after-school activities will be taken to Kim Club (charges apply).
Supervised homework sessions
The optional homework session for the Upper Prep runs from 16.00 until 16.55 each day.
It is held in the Upper Prep classrooms and is supervised by a member of the teaching staff. Once they have finished their homework, children may engage in quiet activities, such as reading.
Please collect your child from the classroom promptly at 16.55 and ensure that the teacher in charge is aware that your child is leaving. Children not collected by 17.05 will be sent to Kim Club (charges apply).

Kim Club
Kim Club provides before and after-school care for pupils of all ages.
From 07.30, parents drop off their children in the Club Room (next to the Dining Room) and the children are offered a choice of cooked breakfast, cereals, toast, juice, croissants, yoghurts etc. They then play until 08.25 when Lower Prep pupils are escorted to their classrooms and the older ones make their way to classrooms to organise themselves for the day ahead. They then move to the top yard.
Kim Club resumes at 16.10 for Lower Prep children. They are offered sandwiches, fruit and drinks and can then choose activities such as arts and crafts, board games, reading and role play games. They are joined by older pupils at 17.00, who eat a similar tea and then join in the fun!
Kim Club closes at 18.00.
Please be aware that an additional charge will be incurred for late pick-ups.
Bookings must be made via the School Office, direct with the Club staff or online.
