Health Centre registration
The Health Centre is located behind Kim House, and has Registered Nurses and School Counsellors on site during the school day.
New Boarders will have an appointment with the Health Centre to introduce themselves and discuss their individual needs within the first few days of joining.
It is suggested that pupils register with the local GP at Kimbolton Medical Centre, as this can mean that House Matrons can take pupils to any required appointments, without missing a lot of lesson time.
Routine appointments for dental check ups and eye tests should be booked by Parents/Guardians for school holidays where possible.
All medication should be handed in upon arrival where it will be assessed by the Nursing Team. Most medication is held securely and administered by Boarding House staff unless an individual plan has been agreed. Pupils will hold their own emergency medication (eg inhalers).
Medical Needs and Medication
To ensure you receive all of the support that you need it’s important to let the Health Centre and your Houseparent’s knows if you have any current medical or mental health needs or allergies.
Medication Consent forms need to be completed by Parents/Guardians before any medication can be administered in school.
What to do if you are ill
The Health Centre is open during the school day 0800-1700. Outside of these times there is always a member of Boarding Staff on duty who carries a duty phone.
If a Boarder wakes up feeling too unwell to go to school they must report this to their Houseparent or Matron, who will discuss with them the best course of action. If a boarder is off school due to illness they will rest in the Health Centre or Boarding House depending on their needs.
Dentist and optometrist
It is suggested that you book routine appointments during the school holidays where possible. It may be possible for a member of School staff to take you to appointments; however there will be a cost incurred for this, including any taxi/travel expenses.
