Sport scholarships
Our approach
Kimbolton offers an extensive range of sporting activities. The school competes locally, regionally, and nationally, across many sports. Alongside traditional school sports, such as Cricket, Football, Hockey and Netball and Tennis Kimbolton also allows pupils the opportunity to explore Athletics, Canoeing, Cross Country, Golf, Sailing, Shooting and Swimming.
Our Athlete Development Programme, already in place, will support Sport Scholars by giving them access to further coaching and ancillary support and places them at centre of sporting life at Kimbolton.

Scholar opportunities
Sports Scholars can expect athletic development and physical preparation support which underpins their individual sport(s) alongside mentoring, 1-to-1 coaching and performance analysis from sport specific coaches.
Scholars will also have the chance to attend workshops and seminars. Scholars will be sports leaders through their attendance at and contribution to the Kimbolton Sports Council.
Sports portfolio of evidence
Applicants should prepare a portfolio of evidence, showing sporting experience and achievements.
This could include, but is not limited, to brief testimonials from current sports coaches. It could also include certificates, competitive times, press cuttings, photos, club details (including in school) and video evidence.
Applicants must show achievement in at least two sports. Evidence should include one of the sports listed below. The second sport is at the discretion of the applicant
and can include a sport not offered at Kimbolton School.
- Football
- Hockey
- Netball
- Cricket
- Tennis
- Cross Country
- Athletics
- Swimming
- Equestrian
Pupils should concentrate on evidencing their athletic potential, sporting skill and competitive attitude across these sports.
Assessment and interview
Successful applicants will be invited to participate in a Sport Inspire Day where they will showcase all aspects of sportsmanship.
The Sport Inspire Day will consist of participation and coaching in a carousel of sports and activities framed around the pupil’s main sport or sports alongside general activities. There will also be a short interview with opportunity to discuss the portfolio of evidence.
