Apply for a scholarship
How to apply
Scholarships recognise the school’s highest performing pupils. A limited number of scholarships will be awarded strictly on merit and thus they constitute the School’s most important accolade for pupil achievement.
They will be available for current Kimbolton pupils and external applicants entering First Form, Third Form and Lower Sixth from September 2026.
- First Form scholarships will be awarded for two years.
- Third Form scholarships will be awarded for three years.
- Lower Sixth scholarships will be awarded for the two years of Sixth Form.

At each stage, there will be a fresh opportunity for children to apply (or be re-assessed) for a Scholarship, in recognition that different children’s talents develop at different rates and to ensure fairness.
Scholars must continue to meet the exacting standards as outlined in this document and this will be monitored through our regular school assessments.
Applicants will be invited to a Scholarship Assessment Session in the spring term. For pupils entering Senior School, this will be in addition to meeting the academic entry criteria. The format of this assessment will depend on the Scholarship applied for. It is expected that all assessment sessions will be carried out during the school week.
Application submission
- A written piece (no longer than 300 words) explaining their interest in their chosen scholarship, detailing why they wish to pursue this opportunity and their future goals within the field.
- A digital portfolio of evidence in their chosen Scholarship. Please photograph or scan any hard copy document that is required as part of a portfolio of evidence.
Applicants should submit these components via the Scholarship Application Form by 6pm on Tuesday 10 December. Applicants can apply for up to two Scholarships.
Once applications have been received, a shortlist of pupils will be invited to interview. Scholarship interviews will take place in the first half of spring term. Offers will be made by February half term.
