Careers Sixth Form
Supporting students in their choices for the future
Beyond Kimbolton Sixth Form
Our approach
At Kimbolton School, our bespoke Careers Education Programme takes a whole-school approach, designed to empower every pupil to realise their potential and aspire confidently towards a successful and fulfilling future.
We aim to foster ambition beyond the classroom, encouraging high aspirations and inspiring young people to explore a wide range of opportunities.
Our carefully planned and progressive programme combines curriculum-based and enrichment activities, helping pupils to better understand themselves, explore the world of work, and make well-informed decisions about their future. Alongside this, we offer tailored support at key stages of career learning, planning, and development to ensure each pupil receives guidance appropriate to their individual journey.
We are committed to an inclusive approach, ensuring that all learners have equal access to high-quality careers education.
Our programme is aligned with the Gatsby Benchmarks and the CDI (Career Development Institute) Framework, reflecting best practice in careers guidance and guaranteeing that the information and advice provided is timely, relevant, and up to date.
Sixth Form support
We are dedicated to preparing Sixth Form students to be career ready – empowering them to move forward with confidence, independence and success as they take their next steps beyond education.
Our comprehensive Careers Education Programme, delivered alongside the Citizenship Programme and tailored tutorial sessions, offers students a wealth of opportunities. These include engaging activities, meaningful encounters with employers, insights into both local and national labour markets, and access to impartial one-to-one guidance.
We believe that high-quality careers education plays a pivotal role in inspiring ambition, promoting equality of opportunity and helping students achieve their full academic and personal potential. The programme is carefully led and continually refined by the Careers Lead in collaboration with the Head of Sixth Form to ensure it reflects the evolving needs of our students.
Students are supported to:
- Access relevant careers information and meaningful employer engagement
- Explore the full range of future education, training and employment options
- Develop the skills needed to plan and manage their career progression
- Apply for competitive applications for university and degree apprenticeships through planned activities
- Contribute feedback and ideas to strengthen the programme further
All students can access impartial, confidential one-to-one guidance delivered by a qualified Careers Adviser, tailored to their individual needs and aspirations.
We also recognise the valuable role of parents and carers and actively encourage them to engage with our staff, attend careers events, and share feedback to help us continuously enhance our provision.

Our vibrant Careers Hub, located in the QKB building, is open to all students, providing a welcoming space to access resources and explore options.
All pupils from First Form to Upper Sixth benefit from access to Xello, which provides interactive activities that develop self-awareness, investigate future pathways, and set realistic, personalised goals for post-18 education or employment.
We also publish a monthly Careers Bulletin for parents, pupils, staff, and governors, keeping our whole school community informed and engaged.
Individual careers appointments are available to all Senior School pupils and can be arranged via self-referral, through parents, or in consultation with a tutor.
“Our goal is to ensure that every pupil leaves us as a capable, self-assured individual, equipped to make informed and thoughtful choices about their future.“

Old Kimboltonians’ Association
Your Kimbolton story doesn’t end here.
The Kimboltonian community extends far beyond Sixth Form, and to all corners of the globe. You will be part of a close-knit year group with shared memories that will stay with you for life.
The Old Kimboltonians’ Association (OKA) holds three main social events each year: the London Dinner, the Summer Reunion and OKA Ball, plus the Annual Dinner.
These key events are supplemented by smaller regional reunions, year group reunions, and informal drinks in London.
“Kimbolton School has a remarkable spirit amongst its leavers that is highly valued by those walking through the Gatehouse for the last time and returning in later years.” OKA Alumni Officer
