Preferred Geography entry requirements:: Grade 6 in GCSE Geography is preferable. An interest in current affairs and the environment is highly recommended.

A Level Geography at Kimbolton covers a diverse range of topics, combining physical and human geography to provide a comprehensive understanding of the world. You will study key themes such as climate change, globalisation, population dynamics, and urbanisation.

Practical fieldwork is integral to the course, giving you the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios. The course encourages students to explore contrasting environments, analyse geographical processes, and evaluate the impact of human and natural activities on the planet.

Assessment

During A Level Geography, you will develop analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of key global and environmental issues.

Assessment includes:

  • Paper 1: Physical Systems – Explores landscapes and Earth systems, including water and carbon cycles and glaciation.
  • Paper 2: Human Interactions – Focuses on urban environments, migration, and global connections.
  • Paper 3: Geographical Debates – Examines contemporary issues such as climate change, hazards, and global inequality.
  • Independent Investigation: A fieldwork-based research project where you design and conduct your own study.

Practical and field-based learning is central to the course, ensuring students develop confidence in applying geographical techniques.
