GCSE Physical Education at Kimbolton
GCSE Physical Education at Kimbolton School provides a comprehensive insight into sports performance, the human body, and the science behind physical activity.
This course combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills to develop your understanding of fitness, health, and wellbeing.
Assessment
- Written exams (60%): Two papers evaluate your knowledge of anatomy and physiology, fitness training principles, sports psychology, and socio-cultural influences on physical activity.
- Non-examined assessment (40%): This includes:
- Practical performance (30%): Demonstrate your skills in three sports—one team, one individual, and one of your choice.
- Analysis and evaluation (10%): Complete a written or presented task, analysing your performance and creating an action plan for improvement.
Beyond the classroom
- Extensive sports facilities: including a 25m swimming pool, astroturf pitches, netball/tennis courts, and a Sports Hall.
- Training sessions: participate in extra-curricular practice for major and minor sports like hockey, football, netball, cricket, swimming, gymnastics, and more.
- Competitions: engage in inter-House sports events and represent the school in regional and national tournaments.
- Annual Gym and Dance Display: showcase your skills in this celebrated school event.
