Our AQA Economics course explores real-world economic principles and challenges. Key topics include:

  • Microeconomics: Learn how prices are set, such as oil and housing, and why people don’t always behave rationally.
  • Macroeconomics: Study national and global economic shocks and their effects.
  • Global economics: Examine why some nations prosper while others face challenges.
  • Policy impacts: Analyse how government decisions, such as tax changes, affect unemployment, inflation, and growth.

Real-world examples like climate change, obesity, and global debt provide the foundation for applying economic theories to current events.

Assessment

During A Level Economics, you will explore how individuals, firms, and governments make decisions that shape the economy. Topics include microeconomics, macroeconomics, and global economic trends.

Assessment is through three written exams:

  • Paper 1: Markets and market failure, focusing on microeconomics.
  • Paper 2: National and international economy, covering macroeconomics.
  • Paper 3: Synoptic paper assessing all areas through real-world case studies and data response questions.
