A Level Art, Design & Photography at Kimbolton
A Level Art at Kimbolton School encourages students to develop their creativity and technical skills through a range of artistic disciplines.
This course equips you with the tools to create visually engaging work and develop your own Artistic style in your chosen media.
This course is ideal for all aspiring artists whether you wish to explore all forms or art from drawing to ceramics, printmaking to photography, painting to textiles or if you have more of a focus in one discipline. You will be building a personal portfolio throughout.

Assessment
Both projects are made up of 4 Assessment Objectives
The same four assessment objectives apply across both components. Each assessment objective is equally weighted.
Below are the assessment objectives for this specification.
Learners must demonstrate their ability to:
- AO1 Develop ideas through sustained and focused investigations informed by contextual and other sources, demonstrating analytical and critical understanding.
- AO2 Explore and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques and processes, reviewing and refining ideas as work develops.
- AO3 Record ideas, observations and insights relevant to intentions, reflecting critically on work and progress.
- AO4 Present a personal and meaningful response that realises intentions and, where appropriate, makes connections between visual and other elements.
Beyond the classroom
- Students will be encouraged to develop their own passions in this subject, with the emphasis of finding their own voice.
- Visiting exhibitions in cultural centres in the UK and across Europe to explore Art, Photography and Art from other Cultures.
- Keeping a photographic diary or personal sketchbook
- Experiment with editing software like Photoshop or Lightroom to refine your work
- Entering competitions to showcase their work
- Exploring digital art using Procreate on iPads
- Contributing to school events, such as set, costume, or makeup design for the school play.
