Senior Art
Inspiring creativity and expression at Kimbolton School
Co-curricular creative opportunities
Art has a high profile at Kimbolton, and we offer a breadth of co-curricular art and design clubs, trips, exhibitions and competitions, with opportunities for everyone to get involved.
Art and design clubs
- Ingrams art: For First and Second Form (Y7 and Y8) pupils, with organised activities in ceramics, painting and printmaking.
- Open art: Open to all ages to follow work of their choice. This could be a fun project or help with coursework.
- Saturday morning art: Sessions for GCSE and A Level students, enabling work for a whole morning with staff help and advice. (Throughout the year but not every Saturday).
- Extra Curricular Opportunities: Open Art is available to afterschool to spend time working on homework or developing an individual piece. There are competitions to enter including Huntingdonshire Young Artist. Work is also regularly exhibited at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
Displays, exhibitions and competitions
- Annual exam year exhibition in June: Work from all exam candidates. GCSE work is displayed in the Art department and A Level work in the White Hall.
- Summer art competition: In July, pupils are invited to make an art piece over the summer holidays, with entries exhibited on Open Day. The competition has a different theme each year; previous themes have included: Games, Colourful Moments, Great Shot and Snap Shot.
Beyond the classroom
At our Senior School, our art trips include:
- Gilbert Scott Art History Evening Lecture Series at Bedford School
- Harry Potter Studios careers trip for Fourth Form (Y10) in conjunction with DTE
- Exam year group day trips to London Galleries (GCSE and A Level)
Arts week
Arts week takes place every other year. In the past we have had residential artists based in school to work on pieces throughout the week.
