About the course

Our GCSE Geography course blends physical and human geography to give you a well-rounded understanding of the world. Key topics include:

  • Physical geography: natural hazards, physical landscapes in the UK, ecosystems, and climate change.
  • Human geography: urban issues, the changing economic world, and resource management.

Throughout the course, you’ll develop skills in data analysis, map reading, critical thinking, and empathy. The emphasis is on understanding real-world issues and communicating your ideas effectively.

AQA Geography syllabus

Assessment

The course is assessed via three written exams:

  • Paper 1 (35%): physical geography topics, including natural hazards and ecosystems.
  • Paper 2 (35%): human geography topics, such as urbanisation and global economic challenges.
  • Paper 3 (30%): applied geography skills, including fieldwork analysis and interpretation of geographical issues.

The assessments combine knowledge recall with the ability to apply geographical skills in real-world contexts.
