Preferred Business entry requirements
Preferably at least a Grade 5 in both GCSE English and GCSE Mathematics. Competitive nature and willingness to try new things. Interest in current trends and commercial environment.

Our AQA A Level Business course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the key areas of business, helping them to develop the skills needed to analyse and evaluate business decisions. Through real-world examples from industries such as technology, fashion, and food production, the course brings the subject to life and encourages students to think critically about the world of business.

You will study:

  • Generating business ideas: Understand how businesses identify opportunities, create business plans and develop marketing strategies to meet consumer needs.
  • Launching products and services: Learn about market research, promotion, and distribution.
  • Motivating and managing others: Study the key factors involved in managing a business, including leadership styles, team motivation and strategic decision-making.
  • Finance and growth strategies: Delve into funding, budgeting and long-term planning for businesses of all sizes.

Throughout the course, you will also explore contemporary issues affecting businesses today, such as sustainability, digital transformation, the impact of global events like COVID-19 and the role of innovation in maintaining competitive advantage.

Assessment

A Level Business is assessed through three written exams (2 hours each) at the end of the course. Papers assess a broad range of knowledge, understanding, and skills acquired across the entire syllabus:

  • Paper 1: Involves four sections with a mixture of- multiple choice, short answer questions and two 25 mark essay questions.
  • Paper 2: This exam involves three data response compulsory questions, each and made up of three or four part questions.
  • Paper 3: A case study will be shared, followed by questions.
