As we approach the middle of the second term of the academic year, it’s an ideal moment to reflect on the journey of our new Head of Prep, Mrs Claire Petrie, as she settles into her role at Kimbolton School.
Since joining us in September, Mrs Petrie has embraced the role with enthusiasm, bringing a wealth of experience in primary education and a fresh perspective to our Prep School. Her leadership style is rooted in building strong relationships within our close-knit school community, and it’s clear that she’s already making a meaningful impact.
From day one, Mrs Petrie set out to meet our pupils, teachers, and parents, ensuring she understands the heart of what makes Kimbolton so special.
“Getting to know the children and their individual strengths has been one of the highlights of my first term. The warmth and enthusiasm I’ve felt from our students have been truly inspiring.”
Her approach focuses on nurturing curiosity and creativity, empowering pupils to explore and challenge themselves in and out of the classroom. Under her guidance, the Prep School has seen an exciting shift towards more interactive and engaging learning experiences, where pupils are encouraged to be curious, resilient, and active participants in their educational journey.
Outside the classroom, Mrs Petrie has become a familiar face at school events, fostering a strong sense of community. Whether attending the recent catwalk fashion parade to celebrate diversity or supporting pupils in their sporting achievements, she is always ready to champion the talents and hard work of our pupils.
“Kimbolton is a community, and I’m so thrilled to be part of it, the level of support from staff, parents, and pupils alike has made the transition into this role an incredibly positive experience.”
Looking ahead, Mrs Petrie is excited about the initiatives she has planned for the coming terms, with a strong focus on wellbeing and developing the Prep School’s already rich co-curricular offering. She is keen to further develop the links between the Prep School and Senior School, ensuring a seamless transition for our students as they move through their educational journey at Kimbolton.
It’s clear that Mrs Petrie’s leadership is already making a positive difference in the Prep School, and we look forward to seeing how she continues to inspire our next generation of Kimboltonians.
