Kimbolton School is celebrating a remarkable year for the performing arts after securing two prestigious wins at the National School Theatre Awards in London on 22 June, alongside a series of other notable achievements and accolades.
The school received five nominations at the national awards, recognising the exceptional talent, creativity and dedication of its pupils and staff. Kimbolton was shortlisted for Best Ensemble, Best Actor, Best Actress in a Musical, Best Supporting Actor in a Musical and Special Contribution.
On the night, the school took home two awards, winning Best Ensemble and Best Supporting Actor in a Musical, awarded to Tom B. for his outstanding performance as Nick in Come from Away.
The National School Theatre Awards success follows a series of other impressive accomplishments for Kimbolton School performers this year.
Earlier this month, Year 10 pupil, Toby T., was awarded second place in the prestigious Trafalgar Theatre Group Monologue Competition in London. Selected from more than 4,000 entries, Toby progressed through to the regional semi-finals, where he performed the role of Hannay from The 39 Steps. After winning his category, he earned a place in the national final, performing in front of a panel of highly respected industry professionals. His compelling performance secured him the runner-up position in his category.

Kimbolton also enjoyed success at the regional final of the All England Theatre Festival, securing second place against strong competition and outperforming two adult theatre groups. Now in its eighth year, the six-month long competition provides amateur theatre groups to compete at a regional and national level. During the festival, Kimbolton pupil, Beau J., also received the Best Actor Award for his exceptional portrayal of Prior Walter in Angels in America. Will Chuter, Headteacher at Kimbolton School, said:
“We are incredibly proud of all our pupils who have achieved such outstanding success in the performing arts this year. To receive national recognition at the National School Theatre Awards, alongside excellent results in other prestigious competitions and festivals, is a testament to the talent, commitment and passion of our young performers. These achievements highlight the strength of performing arts at Kimbolton School and the dedication of both students and staff.”
