Matthew G. has been awarded the prestigious Arkwright Engineering Scholarship, a remarkable achievement recognising pupils with outstanding potential in engineering. He attended a ceremony in Rugby during half term, where he received his certificate and had the chance to connect with fellow scholars.

The scholarship is nationally renowned for supporting future leaders in engineering, providing mentoring opportunities, financial assistance and access to a network of industry professionals.

Earning this scholarship required Matthew to excel in a rigorous three stage selection process. The first stage involved submitting a detailed application showcasing his technical project work and passion for engineering. This was followed by a two hour design and problem solving exam, then an interview, where he impressed the panel with his insight and dedication – all while balancing the demands of his GCSE year.

Reflecting on his achievement, Matthew said:
