Kimbolton School, Cambridgeshire, has been named a finalist for the Community Business of the Year award at the SME National Business Awards 2026 in recognition of its outstanding commitment to educational outreach and supporting people in its wider local community.
Now in its tenth year, the SME National Business Awards celebrate the achievements and contributions of small and medium-sized organisations across the UK. Entries are judged by a national panel with winners announced at a ceremony at the Leonardo Royal, London Tower Bridge Hotel on 6 November, 2026.
Kimbolton School has been recognised for its strong commitment to community engagement, in particular its extensive education outreach programmes. Every year, the team at the school develop and deliver a wide range of academic Masterclasses, designed to inspire and support children beyond the school. A programme of wider partnerships and activities has also been established to benefit the education, health and wellbeing of the local community in and around Kimbolton.
Will Chuter, Headteacher at Kimbolton School, said:
“We are delighted to be named a finalist in the SME National Business Awards. At Kimbolton School, we believe education has the power to inspire people of all ages, build confidence and open up new possibilities. Our Masterclasses are a wonderful example of how we can share the expertise and enthusiasm of our teaching staff with children from across the local area, encouraging them to explore new subjects and extend their learning.
“With around 300 children taking part in our Masterclasses each year, the programme has become a valued part of our outreach work. This recognition is a real encouragement to everyone involved and reflects our commitment to making a positive difference beyond our own school community. We look forward to the ceremony in November.”
A cornerstone of the school’s educational outreach programme, Kimbolton’s annual Masterclasses are delivered by its expert teaching staff. Attending children can explore subjects in greater depth, extend their learning beyond the National Curriculum and discover new interests. First introduced in 2005, the Masterclasses have grown in popularity and established a reputation for providing an enriching and inspiring learning experience.
