Kimbolton’s French theatre group, Le Syndicat des Ombres, recently reunited for another play-in-a-day, combining language skills and dramatic creativity to explore a poignant historical subject.
Working together, pupils devised a play set in a kitchen in Oradour on the morning of the massacre. The piece focused on the people whose lives were affected, bringing their stories to life with sensitivity and ensuring that the victims remained at the heart of the performance.
Throughout the day, pupils demonstrated exceptional commitment, collaboration and imagination as they developed the production. Their confident performances and excellent French allowed them to convey both the story and its emotional weight with great care.
The final performance appeared effortless—a reflection of the considerable talent, hard work and dedication behind it. It was a moving example of how theatre and language learning can come together to deepen understanding and preserve the memory of the past.
