Award winning Author Steve Cole visits our school

Kimbolton School Avatar

We were delighted to welcome bestselling British children’s and young adult author Steve Cole to Kimbolton School.

Steve is a hugely successful and prolific writer, having written more than 200 books across children’s, young adult and science fiction genres. He is perhaps best known for popular series including Astrosaurs and Cows in Action, as well as his young adult novels The Wereling and Thieves Like Us. His books have sold more than three million copies worldwide.

Steve also has an impressive background in publishing. Before becoming a full-time author, he worked as a BBC editor overseeing Doctor Who publishing and went on to write numerous Doctor Who novels and audio dramas. He also succeeded Charlie Higson as the author of the Young Bond series, writing four novels.

This visit was particularly special for our current Year 7 pupils, as Steve’s book New You For Ever was chosen as this year’s summer read. It was a wonderful opportunity for pupils to meet the author behind a book they had enjoyed, discover more about his inspiration and hear first-hand about his experiences as a writer.

During lunchtime, pupils were invited into the library to meet Steve, ask questions about his books and writing career, and have their own copies signed. There was a fantastic atmosphere as pupils chatted with him and shared their thoughts about New You For Ever.

We would like to thank Steve for taking the time to visit our school and for inspiring our pupils to continue reading, asking questions and even start creating stories of their own.
