Celebrating Founders Day at Kimbolton School

On Tuesday 30 June, the Kimbolton School community came together to celebrate Founders Day, marking the vision of those who established our school and giving thanks for everyone who has contributed to its success over the past 426 years. Pupils, teachers and support staff gathered together for a whole school picnic during lunchtime, bringing generations together to enjoy a shared sense of community.

This year’s Founders Day held additional significance as we also celebrated 50 years since girls were first welcomed to Kimbolton School, a milestone that reflects the school’s continued growth and development. The lunch was followed by a fascinating speech from Fiona Whiteman (Coles), one of the first girls to join the school in 1976. Sharing her experiences and reflections, Fiona spoke about the changes she has witnessed over the past five decades and the enduring spirit of Kimbolton that has remained constant throughout.

Pupils then had beautiful church service to commemorate our Founders and reflect on what has changed at Kimbolton over the last 400 years, but how our values remain the same.

“Kimbolton School seeks to promote that which is good: to strive for excellence in education and equip its pupils to live with the values of kindness, curiosity, courage, endeavour and integrity. We aim to nurture gifts for the good of the individual as well as the community. Whether pupil, staff, parent, governor or friend, we have a duty to work to these ends.”

Founders Day is an opportunity not only to honour our past but also to celebrate the vibrant, inclusive community we are today and to reaffirm our shared commitment to the values that will continue to shape Kimbolton School for generations to come.
