Kimbolton hosts an evening with former England cricketer Jonathan Agnew

We were delighted to welcome former England cricketer and BBC Test Match Special host Jonathan Agnew for a fascinating and entertaining evening at Kimbolton.

Jonathan shared his thoughts on a range of current topics in cricket, while also treating the audience to countless stories from his remarkable career both on the field and behind the microphone. His blend of insight, humour and first-hand experience made for a thoroughly enjoyable event.

Before becoming a broadcaster, Jonathan enjoyed a twelve-year professional playing career and represented England on six occasions. Since then, he has spent more than 30 years covering international cricket, becoming best known as the long-serving host of the BBC’s Test Match Special. During this time, he has worked alongside many of the game’s greatest players and personalities and has reported on almost every England Men’s international fixture.

Jonathan also spoke about some of the memorable interviews he has conducted over the years. Through Test Match Special, he has welcomed an extraordinary variety of guests into the commentary box, including Prime Ministers, film stars, musicians, authors and sporting legends, each bringing their own unique stories and perspectives.

Drawing on this wealth of experience, Jonathan captivated the audience throughout the evening, offering a fascinating glimpse into the world of international cricket and sports broadcasting.

PE Teacher and former England fast bowler Alex Tudor said:

“We were honoured to welcome Jonathan to our school for such an enjoyable and inspiring evening. His sharp humour, fascinating storytelling and anecdotes about the world of international cricket captivated the audience throughout. It was wonderful to see pupils, parents, staff and members of the wider community come together to hear from one of cricket’s most recognisable and respected voices speak so passionately about the game.”

The event was also an important fundraising opportunity. Proceeds will support future sports tours at Kimbolton, while also helping our chosen charity partner in South Africa, Inspire Youth. We are extremely grateful to Jonathan for giving his time and helping to make the evening such a success.
