Kimbolton School representatives attend Memorial Day service at Cambridge American Cemetery

On Bank Holiday Monday, pupils Gianna D., Shylia K., and Amy D., alongside Mr and Mrs Bamford, attended the Memorial Day Service at the Cambridge American Cemetery.

The ceremony provided a poignant opportunity to honour the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Second World War. Among the many moments of remembrance, one was especially meaningful for the Kimbolton School community. A photograph was taken beside the gravestone of a fallen serviceman from the 379th Bomb Group, which was based at RAF Kimbolton during the war.

The connection between RAF Kimbolton and the 379th Bomb Group remains an important part of the school’s heritage, making this act of remembrance particularly significant. Standing beside the resting place of a former airman served as a powerful reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and legacy of those who served.

Kimbolton School is proud to support opportunities for pupils to engage with history in a meaningful way, ensuring that the stories of those who served are remembered by future generations.
