In a series of quick-fire conversations, Kimbolton Sixth Form pupils met a range of local professionals in a structured activity where they rotated between different employers. We had amazing representatives from Wilson Browne Solicitors, ShrewdPR, St James’ Place, Parents and Staff. Each employer gave bespoke tips and advice to each pupil about improving their networking skills. This was a fantastic event, focusing on developing pupils:
- Communication skills – explaining ideas clearly and confidently
- Questioning skills – asking thoughtful questions
- Confidence – speaking with professionals in a real-world setting
- Presentation skills – making the right impression in a professional setting
- Career awareness – learning about different jobs and industries
With immediate, constructive feedback — especially on body language and speaking clearly under pressure — this session was designed to build real-world capability and fast.
” I’ve learnt that I’m more confident in myself than I thought. I’ve definitely leant a lot and just to be yourself” – Sixth Form pupil
” It taught me the importance of non-verbal movement such as hand gestures and eye-contact” – Sixth Form pupil
” I’ve learnt that even though it’s a formal conversation, just to treat it as a normal conversation and to relaxed. It isn’t as daunting as I thought it would be” – Sixth Form pupil

Whether it is standing out in university applications, competing for jobs, or simply gaining the confidence to engage with professionals, this event helped bridge the gap between potential and performance.
Short, focused, and impactful — this was more than practice. It was preparation for the real world.
