Pupils represent the school at Inaugural IAPS Debating Competition

Two of our Year 8 (Second Form) pupils, Max C. and Sam D., recently had the exciting opportunity to attend the inaugural IAPS Debating Competition at St Faith’s School in Cambridge.

Competing against strong opposition, they tackled a challenging seen motion “Is competition positive?” with impressive confidence and composure. Both pupils demonstrated excellent debating skills, contributing thoughtful arguments and delivering well-timed Points of Information throughout the round.

In the second round, Max and Sam rose to the challenge of an unseen and highly topical motion on social media restrictions for teenagers. Thinking quickly on their feet, they constructed clear, balanced, and persuasive arguments, showcasing both their critical thinking and teamwork.

Although they did not come away with the overall victory, both boys represented the school brilliantly. They spoke with clarity, confidence, and maturity, and should be very proud of their performance in such a competitive and stimulating environment.
