KimFest! Wall mural competition celebrates KimUnity, inclusivity and pupil creativity
As part of last summer’s vibrant KimFest and KimUnity celebrations, we are proud to unveil the winning design of our Wall Mural Competition — a striking and imaginative piece by Rebecca F. who was in the First Form when she won the competition.
This year’s competition centred on the theme of community, inviting pupils to explore identity, belonging, inclusivity and diversity within our school community. The brief encouraged entrants to design a mural that would celebrate the richness of individual difference while reflecting the unity that defines life at Kimbolton School. The mural is now proudly displayed in the School Dining Hall as it best encapsulates a space where we come together as one community and provides a strong visual setting for a permanent mural.
The response was exceptional. Pupils produced thoughtful, bold and visually powerful designs that celebrated cultural diversity, individuality, kindness and mutual respect. Each submission demonstrated not only artistic talent, but also a deep understanding of the values that underpin our community.
The competition was judged by members of KimUnity, alongside our new Gowns and pupil leaders — a meaningful collaboration that reflects the inclusive ethos of Kimbolton. The judging panel praised the maturity, creativity and social awareness evident across all the entries.
Rebecca’s winning design stood out for its originality, clarity of message and confident celebration of diversity. Her mural concept beautifully captured the spirit of KimUnity — embracing individuality while highlighting the strength found in belonging to a supportive and inclusive community. The design combines vibrant imagery with thoughtful symbolism, creating a piece that serves as both artwork and affirmation of our shared values.
The Creative Arts Festival, KimFest!, continues to be a cornerstone of our creative calendar, held every other year — a celebration of the Arts that brings together Prep and Senior School in a shared expression of imagination, voice and identity. The Wall Mural Competition exemplifies how pupils are empowered not only to participate in school life, but also to shape the environment around them in ways that reflect inclusivity, diversity and pride in who they are.
We warmly congratulate Rebecca on her achievement and thank all pupils who contributed such inspiring and meaningful designs. Their creativity and courage in expressing what community means to them ensures that Kimbolton School remains a place where pupils voices are powerfully celebrated and community spirit is truly valued.
