Prep House Reading competition

Kimbolton Prep recently held its much-anticipated House Reading competition providing a wonderful celebration of poetry, performance and house spirit.

Pupils from Years 2 to 6 worked together within their houses—Montagu, Stafford, Wingfield and Fitzpiers—to prepare and perform a poem by the acclaimed poet, Joshua Seigal. Each house took to the stage with a creative and well-rehearsed performance, bringing their poems to life through imaginative costumes. The creativity, expression and enthusiasm on display were truly impressive, and each house delivered a thoughtful and engaging performance.

Meanwhile, the youngest pupils in Reception and Year 1 delighted the audience with lively nursery rhyme performances. They were brilliantly supported by their Year 6 House Captains, who helped guide and encourage them on stage, creating a wonderful example of collaboration across the year groups.

The performances were judged by Headmaster Mr Chuter and Mrs Poole, Head of English at the Senior School. Both commented on how impressed they were by the pupils’ confidence, teamwork and creativity. After all the groups had presented their poems, the judges shared detailed and encouraging feedback for each house.

With such a high standard across the board, the judges had a difficult decision to make. After much deliberation, the House Reading Shield was awarded to Stafford House, whose immersive and energetic performance of Play Date particularly captured their attention.

Congratulations to Stafford, and well done to all the pupils who took part in such an enjoyable and inspiring celebration of reading and performance.
