CCF Army Camp 2026

Ten cadets spent six days at Beckingham Camp, Lincolnshire from Sunday 5 to Friday 10 July.

Despite the hot weather, all activities were able to go ahead including a personal development day (High ropes and kayaking), a military skills day, which allowed cadets to brush up on the skills they would need on the overnight fieldcraft exercise later in the week. A range day, firing the L98A2 Cadet GP rifle on a 25 metre range and a competition day including drill, shooting, archery tag and command tasks which saw Kimbolton placed seventh overall out of the 15 CCF contingents attending.

The highlight of the week was the overnight exercise where Millie A-A, the Senior Cadet for next year, was given the role of Platoon Commander, in overall charge of the 46 other cadets, ably assisted by Aimee E, Head of Army for next year, as a Section commander. They had to occupy a FOB (Forward Operating Base), read and act on orders, carry out patrols, plan and execute two ambushes and then advance to contact and carry out three Section attacks not to mention make sure a guard and sentries were posted throughout the night.

A great time was had by all and a lot was learnt, not least how to take care of yourself in extreme temperatures!
