Year 6 experience boarding life at Kimbolton

Year 6 pupils were invited for a taster session in the Senior School boarding houses whilst their parents attended a transition talk. A group of girls joined White House while boys visited Kim House, giving them an exciting opportunity to experience life as a boarder and meet current pupils.

At White House, the girls were warmly welcomed by current boarders Isobel, along with Naima and Grace, who will be the Joint Heads of House next year. Upon arrival, the girls headed straight into the garden to meet the much-loved House dogs, Monty and Pip. They spent the early evening enjoying a range of outdoor activities, including swing ball, badminton and table tennis, before sitting down together for supper.

Afterwards, the girls joined the boarders in the Common Room for games and social time before completing their homework in the prep room alongside the older pupils. A particular highlight for some was learning a little conversational Cantonese from the current boarders.

Meanwhile, the boys at Kim House enjoyed spending time in the spacious Common Room before supper. Later in the evening, they joined some of the male boarders for marshmallow toasting in the garden – and, of course, eating them too!

The taster session provided a wonderful introduction to boarding life, giving the Year 6 pupils a chance to experience the friendly atmosphere, make new connections and see first-hand what life in the boarding community has to offer.
