Inspired by the fast-approaching World Cup, pupils in Years 2-6 took part in an all day sponsored football match to raise funds for our chosen charity this year ‘The Rural Communities Mental Health Foundation’.
Year 6 kicked off the day and, after the first hour of play, form M were in the lead. However, once Years 4, 3 and 5 had taken to the pitch, form P were in front and this lead was built on as Year 6 returned in the afternoon to finish the match. The final goal totals were V – 14, M – 29 and P – 51.
Whilst the Upper Prep children were at lunch, Year 2 kept the match going with their very first foray into house matches. These were fiercely contested with goals being scored by all 4 houses. The final results were Stafford – 1, Montagu – 2, Wingfield 2 and Fitzpiers 2.
Despite some slightly soggy moments, the children were absolutely amazing demonstrating the school values throughout the day and we were very proud of them. We had great support from Year 1, Reception and Pre-School who came to cheer on the older pupils and it was lovely to see the whole school coming together for such a good cause.
Also a very big thankyou to the parents who braved the showers to come and support us and to everyone who has donated so far. Our current total is £1156.25.
