On Friday 20th March, seven Upper Sixth NCOs (Non-Commissioned Officers) took part in a challenging overnight sleep-out to raise funds for the Great Tommy Sleep Out, a national initiative supporting homeless veterans across the UK. The event was organised by senior cadet for the CCF, Tilda C. who was joined by fellow pupils Laura B., Kiki T., Ali C., Oscar H., Rohan K., and Melis I.
The group spent the evening together around a bonfire and settling down to watch Top Gun before they began setting up camp outdoors for the night. They slept under shelter in sleeping bags but without any tents. With temperatures hovering around 0°C, it was a very chilly night meaning by the morning, the pupils awoke to frost-covered sleeping bags and hats.

Despite the harsh weather, the initiative proved highly successful. Together, the group raised £500 for the Great Tommy Sleep Out, contributing to efforts that provide vital shelter, support, and services for homeless veterans. They raised £445 from donations and £100 from gift aid.
They highlighted the importance of the event in raising both funds and awareness. The sleep-out not only challenged participants physically but also encouraged reflection on the realities faced by vulnerable individuals across the country.
The pupils’ efforts stand as a testament to their commitment to service, resilience, and community impact.
