Kimbolton School has been shortlisted for a prestigious AMCIS 2026 IMPACT Award in the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) category, recognising outstanding practice in admissions, marketing and communications across independent schools.
The national awards, organised by AMCIS (Admissions, Marketing and Communications in Independent Schools), celebrate innovation and measurable impact across the sector. Kimbolton is one of only two schools shortlisted in the EDI category this year.
The nomination recognises the school’s initiative “Standing Firm in Power and Pride”, which used Black History Month as a catalyst to strengthen inclusive culture, amplify pupil voice and embed diversity meaningfully across school life and communications.
Rather than a standalone event, the programme was designed as a long-term strategic initiative, ensuring that inclusion is both visible and lived across the school community. Activities included pupil-led debates, creative projects, assemblies and exhibitions, alongside curated library resources and contributions from external speakers, helping pupils explore identity, heritage and representation in thoughtful and engaging ways.
A central aim of the initiative was to ensure that pupils and families see Kimbolton as a school where difference is welcomed, voices are heard and every individual feels a sense of belonging.
Kate Latham, Assistant Head – Academic at Kimbolton School, and EDI lead, said:
“We are absolutely delighted to be shortlisted for this national award. What makes this recognition especially meaningful is that the initiative was driven by our pupils — their creativity, leadership and willingness to share their perspectives helped shape something truly powerful for our whole community.
Our goal is always to ensure that inclusion is not simply something we talk about, but something that is visible in everyday school life.”
The initiative achieved strong engagement across the school, and all teaching staff contributed through curriculum delivery or whole-school events. The project prioritised ensuring long-term impact beyond Black History Month itself.
Winners of the AMCIS IMPACT Awards will be announced at a special ceremony during the AMCIS Annual Conference on Monday 11 May 2026.
