The Kimbolton Environmental Initiative (KEI) continues to play an active role in caring for the school environment through practical, hands-on projects. Recently, KEI pupils worked alongside the Grounds team to plant a Hornbeam hedge around the Prep School car park, contributing to ongoing efforts to enhance the school site.
KEI meets weekly as part of the Thursday co-curricular programme, with pupils regularly involved in a wide range of environmental activities. These include planting wildflowers near the Donaldson and developing a database to record bird biodiversity across the school campus.
Alongside on-site projects, KEI pupils take part in a variety of enrichment experiences. These have included a visit to Brown’s British Flowers to explore sustainable floristry, learning about eco-friendly farming practices on a local wheat farm and attending Miss Farrington’s talk, The Price of Nature.
KEI pupils are also working independently towards the TED-Ed Earth School Award, reinforcing the idea that environmental responsibility extends beyond the classroom and into everyday life.
The school looks forward to resuming KEI activities in 2026, continuing to support meaningful environmental learning and action across the site.
