Our Year 6 pupils stepped back in time for an immersive day exploring life during the Second World War. Through a series of hands-on activities, they discovered how history shaped everyday experiences — from rationing and communication to morale and creativity.
Pupils tried their hand at ‘Make Do and Mend’, sewing recycled fabrics into something new while learning about wartime rationing.

They explored Morse code, designed striking WW2 posters, and learned and performed a lively VE Day dance to The Lambeth Walk. The day also included an artefacts session, where pupils examined and discussed a range of items used during the war.
A memorable day of practical learning that brought history vividly to life.
