The Combined Cadet Force (CCF) at Kimbolton School offers pupils a unique opportunity to develop leadership, resilience, and teamwork—qualities that extend far beyond the parade ground. As part of our co-curricular programme, the CCF provides a structured environment where pupils challenge themselves, build confidence, and learn the value of service.
Developing skills for life
Participation in the CCF fosters discipline, responsibility, and initiative, equipping pupils with transferable skills that support their academic studies and future careers. Whether through navigation exercises, fieldcraft, or leadership training, cadets learn to think strategically, work collaboratively, and push their own boundaries. These experiences help shape confident, independent young people prepared for life’s challenges.
A central part of school life
The CCF is embedded in Kimbolton’s wider school experience, complementing our academic and co-curricular programmes. Pupils take part in adventure training, competitive sports, and outdoor pursuits, including the Devizes to Westminster canoe challenge. Leadership opportunities abound, encouraging cadets to take responsibility, support their peers, and develop practical skills in real-world scenarios.

A community of leadership and service
Beyond personal development, the CCF fosters a sense of duty and service. Pupils choose their options at the end of third form (Year 9) – Combined Cadet Force, or Community Service Unit. Cadets take part in community initiatives – remembrance events, and collaborative training exercises, reinforcing the values of integrity, respect, and selflessness. This shared experience strengthens bonds across year groups and creates a supportive environment where pupils inspire and challenge each other.
An inclusive opportunity
Our CCF also welcomes cadets from St Peter’s School in Huntingdon, reinforcing our commitment to accessibility and collaboration. This partnership broadens perspectives, bringing together pupils from different backgrounds to work towards common goals.
Looking ahead
For many, the CCF is a highlight of their time at Kimbolton—whether they go on to military careers, leadership roles in business, or other fields, the skills and experiences gained as cadets remain invaluable. From their first parade to their final leadership challenge, we take pride in watching our pupils grow into capable, self-assured individuals.
At Kimbolton, the CCF is more than just an extracurricular option—it is an integral part of the school’s ethos, encouraging ambition, resilience, and a commitment to excellence.
