From Reception to Sixth Form: A full circle moment

Our Upper Sixth pupils took a joyful trip down memory lane as they returned to the Prep School where their Kimbolton journey began. With sunshine overhead and laughter all around, the afternoon was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on how far they’ve come – and to reconnect with the familiar faces, classrooms and playgrounds of their early years.

Pupils enjoyed pointing out their old classrooms, giggling at how tiny the furniture now seemed, and reminiscing about favourite play areas and memories from their early days at school.

The visit soon turned playful as the Sixth Formers joined the younger pupils in games of tag, bike riding, and exploring the grounds together. A spontaneous football match with some of our Upper Prep pupils proved to be a highlight – with Sixth Form boys enthusiastically joining in the action and showing that some playground traditions never get old!

Alice O’Donnell, Head of Sixth Form, said: “This visit is always one of the highlights of the year. It gives our Upper Sixth pupils a chance to reflect on their time here – not just on the academic progress they’ve made, but on the friendships, values and memories that have shaped them. Watching them interact with the younger children was a lovely reminder of how much they’ve grown, and how special our school community truly is.”

As our Upper Sixth prepare for their final weeks at Kimbolton and look ahead to life beyond school, the afternoon served as a fitting tribute to their journey – from small beginnings to confident, compassionate young adults.
