Year 6 take a memorable trip to Belgium

Our Year 6 pupils enjoyed a truly memorable trip to Belgium this year, with fantastic experiences in both Brussels and Bruges – made even more eventful by a mix of sunshine and showers!

In Brussels, the group explored the iconic Atomium and delighted in wandering around Mini-Europe, spotting miniature versions of Europe’s most famous landmarks. Despite the changeable weather, spirits remained high and the pupils made the most of every moment, even managing to dodge the showers during key parts of the day! A visit to a chocolate experience added a delicious highlight, with pupils learning about the craft of Belgian chocolate-making and, of course, sampling some along the way.

The next day saw us visit the charming city of Bruges, where pupils took to the canals for a scenic boat tour. Equipped with umbrellas, they embraced the rainy weather with great humour, navigating the city’s famous low bridges and enjoying a unique perspective of this beautiful historic setting. A real highlight was the chance to witness the Ascension Day parade—an incredibly special and memorable cultural experience for everyone involved.  We finished the day with some bowling and a walk through Ypres.

We are immensely proud of all the pupils who took part. Their behaviour, enthusiasm and curiosity throughout the trip were brilliant. We were delighted to receive numerous compliments—from customs officials and passport control staff to members of the public, hotel staff and restaurant teams—praising our pupils for their politeness, respect and exemplary conduct.

A huge thank you goes to the staff who dedicated their time and energy to making this trip possible. It was a rich and rewarding experience for all involved, filled with lasting memories and valuable learning opportunities.
