Annual key dates
For a full overview of dates please see our School Calendar.

Autumn Term
Kimbolton Statute Fair (third Weds in Sept)
Around 1200, King John gave the Lord of the Manor permission to hold a fair and market in Kimbolton. From this originated today’s annual ‘Stattie’ funfair.
The High Street is closed for 36 hours and traffic diverted via East Street. Kim Club continues as normal, but there are no activities or prep so that the pupils may attend the fair.
Prep and Senior School Open Mornings
Held in late September or early October. Many Upper Prep pupils assist by escorting visitors, playing sports or enjoying activities in the classrooms.
Fireworks display
The annual Fireworks Display run by the KSPA is held in the Castle grounds. It is a significant event in the local calendar and is highly recommended!
Upper Prep Christmas Concert
A musical celebration involving choirs and ensembles in the Upper Prep.
Christmas Carol Services
Traditional Carol Services are held in St Andrew’s Church. Pupils provide the readings, along with group musical recitals and ensembles. There is a retiring collection in aid of charity. Details are published in the termly calendar.
Lower Prep Nativity Plays
All children have a role to play and gain a huge sense of satisfaction and achievement from working together.

Spring Term
Senior School Entrance Examinations
These take place in early February for both the Prep School and Senior School.
Existing Lower Prep School pupils are usually expected to move to Year 3. Pupils in Year 6 must pass the Senior School entrance exam to progress to the Senior School.

Summer Term
Prep School Open Morning
This is held in May, again with our Upper Prep pupils giving visiting parents and children a tour of our classrooms in action during a normal school day.
Prize Giving
Ceremonies are just before half term for the Lower Prep and for Upper Prep children respectively.
Sports Day
Upper Prep pupils represent their Houses in traditional athletics events. A published programme ensures that you see your child compete and that you can relax and socialise in between. Enjoy a picnic at lunchtime.
Lower Prep pupils complete a carousel of activities in teams. Siblings are allocated to the same mixed year-group teams and spectators are encouraged to follow their teams from activity to activity. The Lower Prep event finishes with competitive races.
Upper Prep Summer Concert
A showcase of our Upper Prep choirs and ensembles.
School Production
A musical production is held towards the end of the term. Year 6 children take centre stage; Year 5 pupils also have the opportunity to participate.

Multi term events
Informal concerts
An opportunity for our Upper Prep musicians to practise their performance skills in a relaxed atmosphere. Parents of the performers are invited to join them and to watch a series of short solo and group pieces.
Lower Prep parents’ assemblies
Parents and family members are invited to watch an assembly based on a class topic, involving all children in the year group. Reception children have a summer tea party.
Cross-country and Fun Run
Twice a year, in the autumn and spring terms, pupils in Years 3-6 represent their houses in cross-country runs around the Prep School and Castle grounds, while all Lower Prep enjoy a fun run. Family members are welcome to watch and cheer the children on.
Years 3-5 Drama Showcases
A fantastic display of talent, which is the culmination of pupils’ work in their drama and English lessons.
