Prep school pupils bring the Christmas story to life

The Prep School was filled with festive cheer as pupils from Reception to Year 2 took to the stage to perform their much-anticipated nativity plays, delighting families with performances full of confidence, creativity and warmth.

Reception pupils performed Nursery Rhyme Nativity, a traditional story with a modern twist. The children played an active role in shaping the production, sharing their own ideas to help personalise the show. Familiar nursery rhyme tunes were used throughout, supporting the pupils as they learned their songs and bringing a sense of fun and familiarity for the audience. Alongside Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus, the performance featured a lively cast of traditional characters, ‘men in black’ and even some unexpected K-pop demon hunters, adding plenty of humour and sparkle.

Year 1 pupils followed with an energetic performance of Everybody Loves A Baby, an Out Of The Ark production. With a narrator seated in a cosy chair, pupils acted, sang and danced their way through the Christmas story, delivering a colourful and joyful retelling that captured the spirit of the season. Their enthusiasm and teamwork shone throughout, convincingly reminding the audience that everyone really does love a baby.

Year 2 rounded off the performances with A Snowman at Sunset. This thoughtful production placed a strong focus on Kimbolton School’s values, weaving kindness, courage and integrity into the heart of the story. Pupils performed with confidence and maturity, demonstrating not only their growing stage presence but also a clear understanding of the messages at the centre of the play.

The nativity performances were a wonderful celebration of learning, creativity and community, and a fitting way to begin the school’s Christmas celebrations.
