In October half term, 40 GCSE French pupils went on a 5 day trip to Paris. Leaving school at 5am on Monday, we took the ferry, and arrived at our hotel at about 7pm, before heading over to dinner at a local pasta restaurant.
On the second day, we enjoyed a walking tour from a local, and it was really interesting to hear about the historical and cultural aspects of the beautiful city. We then went up La Tour Montparnasse, where we could see the whole of Paris! The evening was spent exploring the beautiful area, Montmartre, where we took many photos for our selfie challenge organised by Madame Hassall.
Wednesday was spent enjoying the rollercoasters in Parc Asterix, particularly the enormous log flumes (which were not a good idea in jeans and wool jumpers!).
Thursday was a particularly busy day. In the morning, we visited La Cité Des Sciences, which had so many interactive activities, and really helped us improve our French understanding! This was quickly followed up with a trip on the Bateau Mouche, which was our first chance to get up close with the amazing Eiffel Tower (it is even more spectacular in person!). We then visited Le Musée D’Orsay, where we enjoyed both the classical and modern paintings, and contemporary statues, while also refining our GCSE French skills of describing a picture. We spent our final evening in the beautiful city exploring L’Arc de Triomphe, accompanied by a shopping trip down the Champs Elysées. The night was a perfect end to the trip, as we visited the Eiffel Tower and were able to see it sparkle!
On Friday, we travelled back to School with a quick stop at Amiens, visiting the breathtaking cathedral, and we arrived back into school at 8pm after a truly wonderful trip.
A special thanks to Mr Pithers, Mrs Button, Mr Mills for helping make the trip enjoyable, and to Mrs Hassall for organising everything.
