What an amazing Knights and Castles Day Year 2 had on Thursday, May 16. The excitement was palpable as we stepped back in time and were joined by a real Knight. His presence brought history to life as he taught us about the intricacies of armour, the variety of mediaeval weapons, and the daily life of a knight. His stories were both educational and enthralling, giving us a vivid picture of the past.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the mediaeval banquet. Our Knight graciously invited us to join him for a feast that was absolutely delicious. We dined on sumptuous fare reminiscent of the mediaeval era, making us feel like true lords and ladies of the castle.
Our educational adventures didn’t stop there. We delved into the fascinating world of Heraldry, learning about the symbols and meanings behind various coats of arms. Inspired, we designed and created our own shields, each one unique and reflective of our newfound knowledge.
Building our own miniature castles was another highlight. With creativity and teamwork, we constructed impressive structures that could have stood proudly in any mediaeval landscape. The day was a wonderful blend of learning and hands-on activities, making history tangible and fun.
To cap off our mediaeval experience, we held a jousting tournament with very special “horses.” The laughter and cheers could be heard all around as we competed in this spirited event. Medals were awarded for teamwork, kindness, and enthusiastic participation, celebrating the qualities that made our day truly special.
Much fun was had by all, and Knights and Castles Day will be remembered as a fantastic journey into the past, filled with learning, laughter, and lasting memories.
