Recently, we were proud to host the U11 Girls Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) Football Regional Tournament here at Kimbolton Prep School for the very first time and what a day it was! Twelve schools from across the region (and beyond) took part and the standard of football on display was outstanding.
The IAPS tournaments bring together schools from across the country to compete in a series of regional and national competitions.
It was fantastic to see so many talented young players showcasing their skills, teamwork and determination throughout the day. The atmosphere was electric, with plenty of exciting matches, great sportsmanship and smiles all round. Of course, it wouldn’t be a football tournament without some dramatic penalty shootouts in the knockout stages — and we certainly had those! The girls coped brilliantly under pressure, showing real composure and resilience in those tense moments.
A huge congratulations to all the teams who took part, and especially to our medal winners:
Cup Competition
🥇 1st – Pownall Hall School for Girls
🥈 2nd – Felsted Prep
🥉 3rd – Repton
Plate Competition
🥇 1st – Kimbolton Prep
🥈 2nd – Chigwell School
🥉 3rd – Bedford Girls’ School
Hosting the event for the first time was both exciting and rewarding. The positive feedback from visiting schools made all the preparation worthwhile, and it was a real privilege to see so many girls enjoying competitive football in such a supportive environment.
We look forward to building on this success and continuing to provide opportunities for girls’ football to flourish at Kimbolton.
