With the sun blazing down on the Kimbolton fields, Senior Sports Day 2025 proved to be a day of athletic excellence, fierce House rivalry, and exceptional community spirit. Pupils from Balyes, Dawsons, Gibbards and Owens House gave it their all across a full track and field programme, with events ranging from the 100m sprint and long jump to the javelin, high jump, and a hotly contested tug of war finale.
Despite the soaring temperatures, every competitor soldiered on with admirable determination, keeping hydrated, focused, and full of House pride. It was a beautiful summer’s day, and the energy around the track and field was nothing short of electric.
The day saw some incredible performances – including photo-finish moments on the track – as well as impressive teamwork in the field events and relays. The Tug of War provided a dramatic end to the afternoon, with best-of-three pulls keeping the crowd on edge.
Congratulations to Dawsons House, who claimed overall victory after a consistent showing across all events. Gibbards followed closely in second place, with Owens in third and Balyes in fourth. The final standings reflected a day of spirited competition and impressive effort from all Houses.
With just weeks to go, it’s all still up for grabs in the overall House Championship – and every point will count as we head towards the end of term.
Special thanks go to Mr Mills, who was a superb compère/DJ throughout the event, keeping spectators informed and spirits high. With his commentary and encouragement, the atmosphere never dipped – even under the afternoon sun. Thanks too to all the sports and Senior staff who kept our athletes rehydrated, and to the pupils who showed great team spirit encouraging and cheering each other on.
Congratulations to all who took part, and especially to our Upper Sixth athletes, who competed in their final Senior Sports Day. Your commitment and example set the tone for the whole event.
